How Often Do OTR Truck Drivers Get Home?

Navajo Express OTR truck driver home time

If you drive OTR, you already know how much home time matters. It's usually one of the first things drivers ask our recruiters about.

At a lot of trucking companies, OTR drivers are out about three weeks at a time. At Navajo Express, you can be home in as little as 10 days.

Navajo has been family-run since it started with 13 trucks, so we know how much time with your own family means.

How OTR Home Time Works at Navajo Express

Most of our loads start in Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, and Iowa. After you deliver, we look for a load that brings you back toward home. How many days you get at home depends on how long you've been out:

  • 10 days out: 1 day home

  • 2 weeks out: 2 days home

  • 3 weeks out: 3 days home

  • 4 weeks out: 4 days home

Getting You Home, Even Outside Our Lanes

If you live outside our normal lanes, we'll take loads headed your way so you can still get home. Our drivers count on us for that, and our team works hard to make it happen.

Questions to Ask About Home Time

Before you take any OTR job, ask the recruiter:

  • How many days out is normal for drivers in my area?

  • How much notice do you need to get me home for something specific?

  • Do you plan loads to get drivers home?
